Dough-nation Winners

The Big Dough-nation winners holding their giant sourdough loaves

To celebrate Sourdough September, we brought back our ‘Big Dough-nation’ looking for local heroes across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire who deserve a special thank you.

From charities and community groups to teams and volunteers, we wanted to hear about the people making a difference in our community. Over the course of a week we received a raft of nominations across social media, and it was a tough decision to choose a winner to make our dough-nation to.

But pick a winner we did, and we’re delighted to share that this year’s dough-nation went to Mires Beck Nursery. Their staff and volunteers work hard to enrich the lives of adults with learning difficulties, autism and physical disabilities, through green therapy as they tend to the plants with conservation and sustainability in mind. On 30th September, the last day of Sourdough September, Luke surprised the team with a huge delivery of freshly baked sourdough and the team told us they were ‘dough-lighted’!

It was wonderful to meet everyone and feel the warmth of community that they’ve built, thank you for making us feel so welcome and hope you enjoyed the bread.

Thanks everyone for your nominations, we enjoyed reading about the brilliant things going on around us – keep doing what you do! Sourdough September, that’s a wrap – see you next year!
